  • Have you always had an interest in keeping fit and healthy - wanting to eat the ‘right’ foods, exercise regularly, look and feel your best, feel in touch with your true self?
  • You were going along nicely thinking life is fine, when suddenly something or someone comes along to throw you completely off what you thought was your path?
It was me. Waking up from a serious operation, not so long after the sudden end of my marriage, as a single mum with little income and nowhere I could call my home, I was faced with the knowledge that my life would not be the same again. I decided though early on that I had a choice. I could choose to let circumstances and events affect me in a negative, depleting way....
Or I could reassess my beliefs, my ideals and my path in life and make positive changes. Sometimes we must reach an all-time low, to see a turning point, to reach out for a new way.

My physical journey.
Firstly, I had to get my body working again, and it began with small steps, literally! Trying to walk to the end of the road and back, many times at the beginning I had to call upon my mum to pick me up half way there as I had collapsed with the pain, after time I was again able to go into the gym and slowly and with supervision able to start building up my muscle strength.

Mind over matter.
Having already gained a degree in Acupuncture and qualifications in Reflexology and Massage, I spent time working on both my mental and emotional health.
I also attended a life coaching and mindfulness course and the skills I gained really helped me to identify my goals and gather the strength of mind to become fit and well again. 
I have gained qualifications in Personal Training and Yoga Teaching.  Yoga had always played a part in my life but to be able to deepen my own practice and teach others was extremely rewarding.

Bringing it together.
Having personal positive mental awareness and a physically healthy body all helps to achieve a happy fulfilled life, many different sports require the benefit of having a good frame of mind as well as being physically fit for their discipline.
The importance of relationships, (family, friends and partners) sharing life’s experiences is equally important, building a community of likeminded people will help support and nourish your growth.
When you are physically, mentally and emotionally fit and well, you feel invincible. You feel like you can handle anything. I evolved from a person fearing the future and feeling unhappy and lacking control, to a fearless individual who feels she can take on the world, and feels rather excited about what life has to offer next!
That’s not to say I don’t still face challenges and have lows as well as highs. But I have found I am in a better position to handle life events, such as the end of a romance or the onset of the menopause, the empty nest syndrome of my children growing and moving on, as I am in control of how long I choose to dwell in those lows and re-act to circumstances. I have evolved to understand myself pretty well, my body, mind and emotions, to trust my instincts and know my limitations and my needs, to be pro-active in going after what I want and doing what I love.
You can evolve too.
